IMPORTANT - Please Note: All enquiry must complete the specification form so the correct product/products/ quantities can be specified, BEFORE making the order online. These forms align with building control and are essential for fire certification requests. Please send the filled specification form to [email protected] and we will guide you through the next steps Thermoguard Thermocoat WO is a cutting-edge, water-based intumescent paint system engineered to provide critical fire resistance to structural steel and cast iron. This insumescent paint swells, under a catalytic reaction trigered from heat of the fire, to form a robust insulating char layer up to 50 times the paint thickness. This char layer slows the rate at which the steel heats up, maintaining the structural integrity of the building and allowing more time for safe evacuation and firefighting. As a low-odour and water-based solution, Thermocoat WO is optimised to protect steel elements lik CHS, SHS, and RHS hollow sections, making it a cornerstone of passive fire protection products. Key Features High-Performance Fire Resistance: Provides up to 90 minutes of fire resistance to load-bearing steelwork, including universal beams, columns, and steel hollow sections. Tested to British Standards (BS~476~Part~21 – Fire~Resistance). Advanced Intumescent Action: This intumescent steel paint creates a powerful insulating barrier that protects steel from reaching critical failure temperatures during a fire. Water-Based, Low-Odour Formula: Thermocoat WO is a low-odour and user-friendly paint, making it ideal for on-site application in new and existing buildings with minimal disruption. Certified Protection: Backed by fire test laboratory certification. Upon completion of a project in accordance with manufacturer's instructions, a Certificate of Supply can be issued, which is vital when customers need a fire certificate to show regulatory compliance. Efficient Application: Achieves superior fire protection with a minimum number of coats, saving time and labour costs. The paint may be applied by brush or airless spray. Applications Surface Preparation: Proper preparation is critical to ensure good intumescent paint adhesion. All surfaces must be clean, dry, and free from rust and millscale and primed. For bare steel, the Thermoguard Steel Fire Paint Primer is the ideal choice, formulated for maximum grip to steel and existing primers. Typically, the primer is applied to 75 microns DFT (Dry Film Thickness). Application: You must apply Thermocoat WO in accordance with the project-specific Thermoguard film thickness schedule to achieve the specified level of fire protection. The schedule outlines the exact thickness needed based on the steel section factor (Hp/A), exposure, and required fire rating, ensuring the minimum number of coats are applied effectively.
