IMPORTANT - Please Note: All enquiry must complete the specification form so the correct product/products/ quantities can be specified, BEFORE making the order online. These forms align with building control and are essential for fire certification requests. Please send the filled specification form to [email protected] and we will guide you through the next steps Thermoguard Thermocoat S is a high-performance, solvent-based intumescent paint system providing robust fire resistance to structural steel and cast iron. This advanced intumescent coating is engineered to protect load-bearing steel for up to 90 minutes, safeguarding the structural integrity of buildings during a fire. When the intense heat of a fire triggers a catalytic reaction, Thermocoat S swells to create a dense, insulating char layer up to 50 times the paint thickness. This char layer effectively keeps the steel below its critical temperature, preventing collapse and allowing more time for safe evacuation. Key Features 90 Minute Fire Resistance: Provides up to 90 minutes fire resistance to load bearing steel and cast iron structures. Certified Performance: Holds Egolf fire test laboratory certification to BS 476 Part 21 – Fire Resistance, ensuring compliance with safety standards. Intumescent Protection: The intumescent paint system creates a highly effective insulating barrier against fire and heat. Aesthetic Finish: When used with a compatible decorative overcoat system, it ensures the system will enhance the building’s architectural and design features without compromising on safety. Complete System: Forms part of a comprehensive paint system providing fire resistance, including a recommended anti-corrosive primer and a durable topcoat. Intended Use: Thermocoat S is optimised to protect shaped steel and hollow bracing Applications Coverage: Prior to application the contractor should contact us and obtain a basecoat application schedule or follow on can guidance. Do not overspread as this will compromise the system and result in non-compliance and a failure to be certified Primer: Steel must be primed with a good quality anti-corrosive primer compatible with intumescent paints. We recommend one good coat of Thermoguard Steel Fire Paint Primer to 75 microns DFT. Alternatively, a zinc phosphate or other primer confirmed as compatible can be used. Basecoat: Apply Thermocoat S in accordance with the project-specific Thermoguard film thickness schedule. To receive this schedule, contact our technical department. The minimum number of coats will be specified to achieve the required fire rating. IMPORTANT: PASSIVE FIRE PROTECTION NOTICE Guidance Only: Product information on this website is for guidance ONLY.
